PLA: Peak Load Avoidance

PLA extrapolates and forecasts in order to determine if exceptional weather or load circumstances are likely to create new peak demand levels resulting in increases in monthly utility demand charges. In those cases, end-users are more likely to be willing to allow unusual, short-term degradation of comfort parameters in order to avoid long-term demand cost increases.

Before and during the predicted peak load danger period, PLA allows utilities to better manage their peaking capacity and customers to avoid setting new demand levels by taking agreed upon preventative actions and deploying more aggressive load-shifting and device-setting strategies to curtail consumption.
