ADR: Automated Demand Response

ADR allows energy supplies and transmission operators to better manage congestion on the grid. The open application interface and other features of allow it to communicate with external systems of utilities or Independent System Operators (ISOs). ADR responds almost instantaneously to electronic signals from the utility or ISO that order rapid demand reduction.

Within agreed special-situation parameters, comfort requirements in individual buildings and entire portfolios of buildings can be dramatically modified to achieve maximum energy savings. In times of high usage, system failure or load balancing crises that create a need for rapid and coordinated demand response, specific kW amounts of reduced demand can be committed to the utility or ISO for an agreed period of time. In addition to (or as an alternative to) excessively curtailing consumption in a specific building, the system can also be programmed to deploy other agreed strategies, including automatically activating on-site generators if appropriately synchronized to the grid.
